Evee
Evee (pronounced Ee-vee like the Pokemon) crossed over the rainbow bridge peacefully at home with her parents, Amy and Mark, lovingly holding her. Amy knew Evee was going to come furever home with her when she met her at CTDR's foster mom's house over 11 years ago. Evee came outside running and barking out of the foster mom's house and stole Amy's heart. Evee had had back surgery 2 months before she was adopted but you would never know it. She was an adorable ball of energy who loved going with her parents to events and dog parks all over Austin. She loved chasing her light-up ball although she failed to completely understand the game of fetch meant she had to bring the ball back. She was the ultimate velcro dog who loved snuggling up on the couch and in bed with her parents. She was so fast she caught a few rabbits and even a bat to her mother's horror! She was never able to get a squirrel although she tried many times. Her Daddy was her favorite and she loved it when he would get on all fours on the living room floor and play with her. She loved going through the drive-thru and getting pup cups and treats. She loved Christmas because she would get all dressed up with her parents for a photo shoot and the pictures went out on Christmas cards. In her later years, she loved going for strolls in her stroller. Mommy and Daddy will always love and miss you, Evee! You will always be in our hearts.
Mitzi
Monday, March 24 9:37 PM - We said our very heavy goodbyes to our beloved Mitzi Moo Wiggle Butt aka Mitzi Von Midna. We adopted Mitzi from CTDR July 4, 2013, but truthfully, she adopted us. With her fierce sense of protection for her favorite humans, her love for cheese, smelling every blade of grass on a walk or the way her unique ears floated when the windows were down during a car ride or while relaxing under the sun and enjoying the breeze while on the Beach - She just simply made us smile. Mitzi was such a protector of her humans and her baby sister, partner in fence fighting, Gretchen, yet was the most cuddliest wiggle butt of a Doxie you could’ve ever known. She will be so very missed. At an estimated 19 years of age, Mitzi earned her beautiful angel wings to carry her over Rainbow Bridge where she can run free.
With a heartfelt thank you,
Kim Collins
Dixie Ludean
I've owned many dogs, cats, & other animals in my life but Dixie really found a place in my heart. We (Mary & I) adopted Dixie from CTDR in May 2015. Kristn Moll was her foster mother after Dixie had severe back surgery and was confined to a crate for many weeks. We met Kristn in Georgetown & brought Dixie to our home. She was such a blessing even at the early stages. Only limits she put on us, she would not let us touch her feet or her tail. After a short time we were able to touch her anywhere, she had unconditional love for us as we did her. She was prim & proper like a southern belle so we added a middle name for her, "Ludean". It wasn't long before she knew her name was "Dixie Ludean". In addition she was definitely 100%Texan. Looking at her from the rear it seemed she had leather chaps on. She loved her yard & would work with me when I was cleaning flowerbeds, I assumed she was protecting me from snakes or whatever was in the tall weeds/grass. Once she got left outside of the fence, I went looking for her & she was trying to dig back under a gate. She wasn't going to run off. The sweetest thing she would do to Mary & I even at the very first. She would sit in our lap & look (stare) up at us with a look like "a dying calf in a hail storm". I believe she understood that we had rescued her & really appreciated us. I even told her she was going to give me a complex if she kept staring. She had us trained, very bossy. Time to get up (0530), time to have her eye drops (twice daily), time to eat supper (1700 - 1800), time to go to bed (2100), time to potty/poop, snacks & any other time she could figure out. Could not ask for a better traveler. Heart is hurting as I write this but I know she is without pain & she is smelling all of the flowers across "Rainbow Bridge".
Keep of the Good Work,
Wally
Heidi Ann
2020 was a hard year for everyone but it hit especially hard when I lost my fur baby Heidi Ann that year. I was a foster fail through CTDR and she touched my life in such a special way, I will be forever grateful not only to the staff of CTDR but to Heidi Ann as well. It was obvious when I got her, that she needed extra love and care but that never destroyed her spirit. She was only with me a year but in that time she showed me what true and unconditional love was and she was always by my side. When I left the house, even for a few minutes, she stayed by the door, eagerly awaiting my return. She insisted that her bed be right next to me at all times and then she would burrow down under the comforter as much as possible. I would see her peek out and check every once in a while to make sure I was still by her side. She loved me and I loved her with all my heart. I miss her every day. I know she is in a better place, playing, is healthy and happy and awaiting my return in the future. I love you dearly and miss you Heidi Ann!!
Sussy
Good Morning,
We are sad to share that our sweet Fancy (our given name, she was known as Sussy when she joined our family) passed away this past Saturday snuggled in our arms. She struggled with epilepsy which we managed with her vet and unfortunately the medication took a toll on her kidneys which put her in kidney failure. She enriched our lives in countless ways. Mark and I adopted her while we were still dating and she has been by our side through engagement, marriage, buying our first home, and the birth of our 2 sons. She was so loved by all who met her. We took her on many road trips, even to California! She was happiest snuggling with us in blankets, riding in the car and laying in the sun. When our kids were born she loved them too, giving them kisses and snuggles and showing them patience as their little hands learned to be gentle with her. She was such a loving and sweet soul and we will miss her dearly. We want to extend our sincere thanks to CTDR for bringing her into our lives and taking such good care of her before we adopted her. I have included a bunch of photos of her journey with us to share the joy she brought our family.
